- Springville Museum’s 87th Annual Spring Salon
One of my pieces (sorry I don’t have a photo yet, if you saw the head painting show at BYU last fall then you’ve already seen it) was accepted into the Spring Salon! Out of 1,008 entries 225 pieces were accepted. Just a few of the big names also in the show: James Christensen, Robert Barrett (who is one of my professors), Sunny B. Taylor, Casey Childs, Brian Kirshisnik, Randall Lake and my friends Michal Onyon, Adrian and Steven Waggoner. It will be up from April 22 – July 3, in Springville of course. Thank you Steven for encouraging me to enter, we made it!
- BFA Group Show!!!
I’m joining with 9 other great artists to do our BFA show. It will be up April 4-21 in Gallery 303 in the HFAC. We’ve been working really hard, it’s our final show! So, please come see the art and especially come to the closing reception on April 21st at 7:30 pm. Meet the artists, see the works and eat some food.
This is who I get to show with:
- Foolin’ Around Provo and The Annual Student Show
I’m so lucky to currently have pieces up in three shows! My Final BFA show, Foolin’ Around Provo, and the Annual Student Show.
Foolin’ Around Provo is a project where artists were randomly assigned an area of Provo and asked to do a piece having anything to do with that area. I drew a playground and it’s hanging in the hall at Provo Town Square.
The Annual Student show involves all the visual art departments and each of the areas are juried by the area heads. I have my squid piece, “Invisible”, in it and there is a LOT of REALLY great art up, I highly recommend a visit to the HFAC this week (April 4 – April 21).
- BYU Illustrators Showcase
I’ll have three pieces in the BYU Illustrator’s Association Showcase here in downtown Provo! Make sure to stop by during the gallery stroll for the opening reception on Feb 4, 2011. There will be live music and food, but mostly really great work from my fellow students! I believe it starts at six. . .
- Society of Illustrators
The Society of Illustrators hosts an Annual Student Competition that draws thousands of entries from schools all over the country. This Year (2010) BYU had 7 students accepted including my good friend Steven Waggoner and I! My snake/clown painting will hang in a gallery in New York for a few weeks.
